📖 “A house is built by wisdom, and it is established by understanding; by knowledge the rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure. A wise warrior is better than a strong one, and a man of knowledge than one of strength; for you should wage war with sound guidance — victory comes with many counselors.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬📖

My darling husband and I have been pouring over Proverbs in our daily bible reading. Proverbs might not be a prophetic book or dripping in God’s glory, but it is written by men who God gave the gift of wisdom. That makes it worthy of paying attention to it.
Today’s passage and the accompanying quote sum up beautifully what Jon and I have been doing. Studying, praying, and applying God’s word.
Are you taking the time each day to pour over the scriptures to better understand what God thinks or has to say about the things of Earth?
As Christians, we must be in a continued state of learning. We will never be perfect or understand all the wonders of God’s grace and mercy, but it is the striving to know that makes God smile. In my mind, I envision him sitting there, watching us as we highlight, notate, and pray with a smile on his face. Maybe even a nudge to Jesus, saying “Are you seeing what I’m seeing? They long for more of Us.” Then He instructs the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to something we hadn’t seen before.
Such a beautiful image.
R.C. Sproul said it this way…
“Our Lord calls for a continued application of the mind to His Word. A Disciple does not dabble in learning, he makes the pursuit of the understanding of God’s Word a chief business in his life.”

So, are you striving for more of Him? More wisdom, more knowledge, more understanding, more of His presence? What does your quiet time look like?
