Delicious Devotion release week of fun

Heirloom moments

In Delicious Devotion, Beth is given some unique gifts from one who has impacted her life but would not be at the wedding.  The scene was probably one of the most touching moments in the whole book. I cried as Beth read the letter from Gram and admired her gifts that had been set aside ahead of time.

Writing that scene also brought to mind my gifts from one who would never see my wedding. My Great Grandma Reid’s pearls were gifted to me by my grandmother to were for the big day. They were four strains connected in the back and a cluster of pearls on screw-back earrings that we had always been told were cultured. Upon taking them in to be cleaned, we discovered they were all wax…but it was a family heirloom that I had admired since I was a child and it felt like my great-grandmother was there.

When my grandma started to hand out some of her things to those in the family who had spoken up, she gave me the pearls, for good. I was so blessed to have them in my possession, whether or not my daughter or future granddaughters decide to carry on the tradition. Those little trinkets bring the past into the present and make the day more special.

Why do weddings do their best to ruin relationships? Friends, family—even the couple!

Beth Stevens didn’t come to the Independence Islands to find a guy, but thanks to her beloved Gram, she had a place to go and the skills to start a business she loves. Meeting Scott again and getting engaged was a bonus she only dreamed of.

Now, in the final weeks before their Christmas Eve wedding, she can’t imagine not having him in her life. They have endured one hurdle after another in their two-year relationship and have remained devoted through it all.

And then months of wedding planning begins to fall apart as one person continues to undermine Beth’s choices.

Scott has waited for this day to come but as he witnesses Beth unravel, he does everything he knows to do to protect and stand by her.

The question is, will things ever come together enough to get them both to the altar before it’s too late?

This Breakers Head novel is Melissa Wardwell’s final novel in the Independence Islands Series featuring five islands, six authors, and a boatload of happily-ever-afters.
